Hello there! My name is Cate. I believe in more, not less.
More vegetables, more traveling, more laughter, more snacks, more movement that makes you happy, and more dinner parties. More celebrating food.
I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Certified Lactation Counselor . I’ve worked on organic farms, in cafes and bakeries, in hospitals, health centers, soup kitchens, and food pantries. I don’t believe in restrictive diets, and I don’t believe in cutting out whole food groups. I believe in more.
I believe in feeling full.
When we talk about food, we are also talking about social justice, climate change, world hunger, gender issues, and worker’s rights, among many other things.
And when we think about nutrition, oftentimes we think about weight, and forget that eating is about health- and that true health incorporates many different parts of our life- and its much more than how we eat or exercise. These days, being at war with your body is normal, and that is NOT healthy.
My goal as a nutrition professional is to teach others how to feel full with both food and life.
My personal interests include cooking, running, reading, watching silly you tube videos, writing poetry, baking cookies, hiking, signing/songwriting, gardening, yoga, and getting lost in Google Maps (go on and Google Map Northern Canada, you won’t regret it).
Currently, I have just returned to Rhode Island after a year of travel around South America. While there, I worked at an great place called Healing House in Cusco, Peru, and also volunteered with a wonderful organization called Peruvian Hearts.
If you have a specific question or would like to work together on a project, I am available for group and private consultations, as well as workshop development in the Rhode Island area.
